  1. 1.0.8

    A compression that fails now tells you why, with a clear message when storage runs out, plus batch, sharing, and playback fixes.

    Added

    • When a compression fails in the background, Squeezio now posts a 'Compression failed' notification with the reason, so a failed run never just disappears. If the system stops a batch after some videos finished, you still get the completion notification for the ones that made it.
    • When your phone runs out of free space while saving a compressed video, Squeezio now asks you to free up space and stops the batch, instead of blaming the encoder and failing every remaining video the same way.

    Improved

    • The batch summary, its result cards, and the completion notification now count only the videos you meant to compress: a video you skip no longer counts against the total, and a batch stopped by an error no longer claims every video was compressed.
    • The warning that videos were skipped due to errors now counts every failed video, including ones that failed before compression started.

    Fixed

    • Sharing videos you selected right after a batch finished now opens the share sheet; before, the share button silently did nothing until the videos appeared in your history.
    • In a batch where a video was skipped or removed, selecting result cards now shares exactly the videos you picked instead of drifting to a neighbor.
    • Videos with less than one frame per second no longer crash the app while compression settings are being prepared.
    • Watching a video from your history while a compression runs in the background no longer blanks the player or jumps it to the newly compressed video.
    • A finished compression's result card on Home no longer disappears when a later compression fails to start.
    • Starting a new compression just as the previous one is finishing no longer fails with a spurious access error.
    • If a video is already smaller than the planned output size when encoding starts, Squeezio now skips the resize instead of enlarging it, so videos are never upscaled.
    • A rare system failure while updating the progress notification no longer crashes the app mid-compression; at worst a single progress update is skipped.
    • Target-size and above-1080p compressions now ask for Pro when compression starts if the upgrade lapsed while a permission prompt was open, instead of running without it.

    • The welcome screen honors your reduce-motion setting, holding the preview still when you have animations turned down, and reads as a single description to screen readers like TalkBack.

    • Compress with one of three quality presets: Low (480p), Medium (720p), or High (1080p). Presets never scale a video above its original resolution.
    • Let Squeezio choose the codec automatically, or set AVC, HEVC, or AV1 in Settings when your device has a hardware encoder available.
    • Compression runs entirely on your phone. Videos are never uploaded, and there are no accounts and no ads.
    • Your original stays untouched. Each run writes a new MP4 to a folder you choose, and you can share the result straight from Squeezio.
    • If compressing a video would not actually make it smaller, Squeezio keeps the original instead.
    • Browse a local history of past compressions, plus lifetime statistics for space saved, average reduction, videos processed, and total processing time.
    • Compression keeps running in the background and posts a notification when it finishes.
    • Follows your system light or dark theme, with optional Material You dynamic color on Android 12 and later.
    • Pro adds batch compression, 4K output, target file sizes (Discord, WhatsApp, Email, or custom), manual bitrate, resolution, and frame-rate controls, keep metadata, and remove audio.
    • Unlock Pro through Google Play with a one-time purchase or a subscription you manage in Play Store settings.
