Who we are
Adrian Spies is responsible for data processing by the Squeezio Android app and this website. For privacy questions, email privacy@squeezio.app. Our postal details are in the Legal Notice.
Videos and files
Compression happens on your device and works without an internet connection. The app does not upload your videos or their contents, and no account is required. The system file picker gives Squeezio access only to the videos you select. You can also share videos into Squeezio from another app.
Compression does not change or delete the original. It saves each result as a new file in a folder you choose.
By default, the app removes metadata from compressed videos. If you turn on "Keep metadata" (a Pro option that is off by default), the app preserves supported metadata, which can include location, camera information, and the date, in the new file. Android may ask you to allow Squeezio to access location metadata for this purpose. The app does not transmit the preserved metadata.
App data and Android backup
On your device, the app keeps compression history, including file names, output locations, sizes, dates, and thumbnails. It also keeps lifetime statistics and settings. Deleting a history entry removes the entry and makes the app try to delete its output file.
Clearing the app's data or uninstalling it removes data kept inside the app from your device. It does not delete output files in folders you chose or copies held by Android backup.
If Android backup is on, Android may copy settings, statistics, and compression history to your Google account for later restoration. Thumbnails, in-progress compression data, and the Pro cache are excluded. You control backup in your device settings.
Crash diagnostics and performance
We rely on our legitimate interests in diagnosing problems and keeping the app secure and reliable. For this purpose, the app sends crash and error reports and sampled performance data to Sentry in the European Union (Germany). Reports can include the error and where it occurred in the app, your device model, Android and app versions, recent app activity such as compression steps and tapped controls, and technical details about failed Pro purchase steps.
Video contents are never included. Before sending diagnostics, the app removes file names, storage paths, content URIs, and similar file references from activity notes and captured error details.
Sentry generates a random identifier once for each app installation so it can group related reports. It is not linked to your name, email address, account, or a hardware identifier. Sentry is configured not to store IP addresses. Reports are kept for up to 90 days and then deleted automatically. You cannot turn diagnostics off in the app. See Sentry's privacy policy.
Google Play and Pro
We process Pro purchase and entitlement information as needed to perform our contract with you. Google Play handles optional subscriptions and the lifetime purchase, including payment and purchase history. The app receives purchase and entitlement information from Google Play to unlock Pro. On your device, it caches whether Pro is active and, for a subscription, the product identifier. This cache is excluded from Android backup.
You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Google Play account. If a purchase step fails, diagnostics may include the Pro product, technical result codes, and Google's technical error description, but not payment details. Google Play also handles occasional in-app rating prompts; the app stores only when it last tried to show one.
The website
Cloudflare Pages hosts this website and processes standard request information, such as your IP address, to serve and protect it. Cloudflare Web Analytics measures basic traffic and performance. It does not use cookies or browser storage, track visitors across websites, or build individual profiles for Squeezio. We rely on our legitimate interests in keeping the website secure and reliable and understanding its basic traffic and performance. Cloudflare keeps this analytics data only for a limited period under its own retention policy.
Cloudflare is based in the United States. Transfers there are covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, with the EU standard contractual clauses as an additional safeguard.
With your consent, Kit handles the optional email signup. Submitting the form sends your email address and IP address to Kit, which stores your email address, consent record, and subscription details. Kit emails you a confirmation link, and you are subscribed only after you click it.
Kit is based in the United States. Transfers there are covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, with the EU standard contractual clauses as an additional safeguard. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing through an update email. This stops the emails but does not automatically delete your subscription record. Kit preserves the record and its history, and deletion is a separate step, so the record does not expire on its own.
Your rights
When you contact us, we rely on our legitimate interest in using your message and contact details to answer you. We keep that correspondence only for as long as we need it to deal with your request and to meet any legal obligations. Where these rights apply, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability of data associated with an email address we can verify, such as your email subscription and correspondence with us. Your email subscription relies on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing. You can also object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing we base on our legitimate interests, including our crash diagnostics through Sentry and our website analytics through Cloudflare. Send requests to privacy@squeezio.app.
Diagnostic reports are not linked to an email address or account, so we normally cannot match them to an email-based request. The website analytics likewise build no profile linked to you, so there is nothing there to connect to a request. If you believe we have handled your data incorrectly, you can complain to a data protection supervisory authority, particularly in the EU country where you live or work.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app or website changes. The effective date shows the current version.
